The winemaker who tries everything
.jpg)
Ludovic Labarrère, Ludo to everyone, started with a degree in viticulture and a plane ticket to Chile, where he worked alongside the legendary Michel Rolland. Back in France, he spent 12 years in Saint-Émilion learning from world-renowned winemaker Stéphane Derenoncourt, before joining The 3 Thinkers, the team that looks after Château Mayne Blanc. He still slips into Spanish when a vintage gets exciting.
Old ways, new tricks
Ludo doesn’t believe in doing things the same way twice. Every year he watches the weather, tastes the grapes and adjusts his methods to suit the season. But for all his experiments, he has deep respect for tradition, and our classic Lussac-Saint-Émilion reds are still made with patience, care and plenty of time in the barrel. New ideas sit beside the old ones, never in their place.

A little bit crazy, in the best way
When Ludo decided to make an alcohol-free wine, some of the neighbours called him crazy. He made Zéro anyway. Then he made a white wine from Merlot, a grape almost everyone in Bordeaux uses for red. Ludo’s rule is simple: if it could be delicious, it’s worth a try.

From the award-winning Cuvée Spéciale to the bold little Zéro, every bottle has passed Ludo’s test first.
